All Astrostrike® products are delivered “Bond Ready”. All Astrostrike® products are processed through a calendaring, annealing and cleaning process and then coated with a corrosion resistant primer. Both copper and aluminum Astrostrike® products are bond ready when delivered and require no further processing, handling or cleaning by the customer. Both the Aluminum and Copper screens have successfully passed 3,000 hour salt-spray corrosion tests for finished panels.
This is a “proprietary” process designed specifically for the high thermal fatigue situations. This process treats both the metal surface to diminish the mismatch between the adhesive and screen in thermal micro-cracking testing. This process utilizes the standard CX surface coating and an additional MC coating process which renders the surface more compatible to amino based resin systems. While micro-cracking varies with both adhesives and films, this system should closely equal results from phosphoric acid anodizing (aluminum) in prevention of micro-cracking and still possess full electrical conductivity. This treatment can be used on both copper and aluminum. Of course changes in adhesive systems should always be tested case by case (certain adhesives are of course more prone to micro-cracking) however, the CX-MC process has been confirmed to diminish the micro-cracking problems when subjected to up to 3,000 thermal cycles.
